For the past few years, if you've asked what the best way to speed up an old laptop, you've probably been told to install an SSD. Sure, lots of new laptops come with SSDs or aren't user repairable, but if you're trying to squeeze the last few years of life out of an old lappy, the advice still applies: a little bit of NAND flash will make your computing experience a lot more enjoyable. Right now, Amazon's selling a decent SSD that won't cut into your laptop replacement budget.
Amazon's price matched Newegg's $90 price for a 120GB Sandisk Extreme SSD. This drive usually goes for between $110 and $120. Although this price is still a bit away from the magic 50 cent/GB mark, it's about the cheapest you'll find a decent replacement drive.
