David Lloyd Leisure Lose & Shape Up Members Wave Goodbye to ...

(PRWEB UK) 8 May 2012

David Lloyd Leisure is celebrating the success of 761 members, who collectively lost a colossal 4,900 lbs or 350 stone during its latest Lose & Shape Up course, a specially tailored 12-week whole body approach to weight loss.

Developed by a team of nutritionists and fitness experts at Europes premier sports, health and leisure group, the nationwide Lose and Shape Up programme includes a weekly weigh-in, group support and exercise, nutritional advice and online tools.

Rob Beale, head of sport, health and fitness at David Lloyd Leisure, said: With the number of members joining our Lose & Shape Up course this year rising by a fifth, its great to know that more and more people are willing to get in shape the healthy way with professional advice from leading health and fitness experts.

In just three months, we have helped hundreds of members, from over 60 of our clubs, feel better about themselves. That is astounding and congratulations goes to every single Lose & Shape Up member and our dedicated trainers who helped improve their fitness and nutrition.

Kirsty Reese, 23, a member at David Lloyds Ipswich gym, won a years free membership for achieving the most impressive results with the support of personal trainer, Russell Turner.

From the age of 17 I have gradually put on about 10 stone, explains Kirsty. It wasn?t until my brother and my mum joined the gym and started to lose weight that I thought to myself that I didn?t want to be the only fat one left in my family. At one point, the doctors had to keep an eye on my blood pressure because it kept going high.

Every so often I would join a diet class, but none of them ever seemed to work for me and I would give up after just a few weeks. I joined David Lloyd Leisure on the first day of 2012 and have since lost 4 st 6 lbs. This course has completely changed my life for the better because I learned a lot about the right nutrition to be able to have a healthier and longer life.

My success is about group support and encouragement; Russell has been fantastic through this whole course, gives such great advice and is always there if you need him. Without his constant encouragement and enthusiasm to want to help people, I wouldn?t have achieved as much as I have today, adds Kirsty, who is continuing with the Lose & Shape Up programme.

My passion for sport has come back to life and I?m enjoying every moment of it. I never want to go back to the old me because now I have become so much healthier, fitter and confident.

The top Lose & Shape Up trainer prize went to John Sheehy, at David Lloyd Leeds, for helping 21 members lose 336 lbs.

John said: ?Lose & Shape Up gives everyone the opportunity to achieve and exceed their weight loss and body shape goals in just 12 weeks and understand how to maintain this for the rest of their lives. For some, it has been life changing. Every time I see my members, they have a huge smile on their face and are full of life. Lose & Shape Up is about learning healthy habits for life this is why it works.?
