PSI seeks candidates for a 9-month consultancy to provide communications support to PSI?s global mission. PSI has made investing in people and organizational development a global priority and therefore developed the Learning and Performance (L&P) Department to execute in areas of learning, innovation, performance improvement, and knowledge management. The department is positioned to help platforms, departments, and individuals access appropriate learning activities to accomplish the overall organizational objective of improved performance to increase health impact. The objective of the consultancy will be to create and develop a communication strategy and update materials for the Learning and Performance department. In addition this consultant will provide support on coordinating internal technical case studies and developing L&P examples for external publications. The development and execution on these activities fosters measurable improvements on communication and expands the effectiveness of the department. This full-time position is based in Washington, DC and reports to the Manager, Learning & Performance.

RESPONSIBILITIES:?
- Manage and support L&P marketing and communications for 2012 priority activities including roll-out of the LRN initiative and PSI Marketing Academy
- Develop marketing and communications strategy and branded messaging for initiatives
- Create marketing and communications materials to support announcement of initiatives and on-going updates
- PSI University: Develop marketing campaign to increase use and completion of PSI U courses. Support development of PSI Voice and track impact of communications.
- Improving Training: Assist in re-packaging L&P training products/services. Create a strategy that might include 1-page flyers, job aids, and promotional materials leveraging stories/examples from the field to promote the new training product/service.
- KIX: Recreate L&P?s KIX home page. Provide insight and support on L&P departmental page from user perspective. Ensure pages contain key words and streamlined page organization for successful searching of information. Update and edit pages.
- SocialCast: Refine and execute marketing plan. Analyze user statistics to target low usage countries with communications and generate demand for membership. Drive use.
- Performance Improvement: Assist with the re-positioning of Performance Improvement Planning (PIP) branding. Re-organize KIX space to reflect positioning and ensure streamlined pages for a positive user experience. Assist in updating the Performance Improvement Toolkit. Develop 1-page flyers and/or promotional materials to communicate value as a major PSI tool. Develop and execute marketing campaign.
- Assist in the development of language for proposals. Liaise with the L&P and New Business Development team.
- Coordinate with various technical departments to update and add additional case studies. Liaise with Corporate Communications, Marketing and Advocacy department on standard template and promote the release of new case studies.
- Work with L&P team to write and promote case studies on ?L&P Big 5? activities. Assist in developing case studies into publications to submit for external opportunities in the Learning & Development industry (ISPI magazine, ASTD magazine, etc). Assist with submitting applications to external awards and conferences.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor?s Degree in communications, marketing, international development, or equivalent experience required in field of global marketing and/or communications.
- Experience developing comprehensive communications campaigns and overall strategy with demonstrated and measurable results. Familiarity and comfort carrying out both strategic and tactical implementation activities.
- Experience marketing internal learning assets such as corporate universities, social networking sites or document management tools.
- Experience writing successful award, publication and program or proposal applications.
- Creative, self-starter who can translate organizational goals and objectives to communication planning.
- Ability to effectively write for external and internal target audiences (PSI Headquarter and field staff, award committees and media).
- Must have a writing background and previous experience in corporate/organizational marketing and communications and/or marketing and communications campaigns.
- 1-3 years marketing and communications experience in the developing world.
- Desired writing ability in Spanish and/or French.

Preference will go to a consultant with international field experience, a demonstrated commitment to development, and/or an interest in using innovative approaches to learning. The consultant will demonstrate his/her ability to work independently as well as within a team; have strong organization and communication skills; and have the ability to manage multiple tasks while working on deadlines.
